For those who like their music on the wild side.
Cosmo Sheldrake is a truly unique singer, songwriter, composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist who makes music inspired by and often incorporating field recordings and natural soundscapes. Cosmo grew up surrounded by both music and a deep understanding and fascination with the natural world. His 2020 album, ‘Wake Up Calls’, is comprised of recordings of endangered birds and has mesmerised fans new and old. “Often just listening to the sound of a gale in Scotland, or sampling the sound of bats chewing, has given rise to a tune.” He says.
In this exclusive CHANGE Festival performance, Cosmo will share his deep and eclectic musical talent and love for the environment. You haven’t heard anyone quite like Cosmo Sheldrake before. But now you can.
Cosmo will be supported by Ruby Colley, a violinist and composer who creates instrumental soundscapes that are far beyond the realm of traditional playing, weaving in environmental sound and electronics. She draws upon many different styles such as folk, improvisation and contemporary classical. Ruby’s music is eclectic but strangely unique and her performances are charged with emotional power and nuance.
Also performing is Ellie Gowers, whose music embeds a fierce energy that echoes the 60’s folk revival scene and is known for her strong and lucent vocals. Her songs are built from a childhood love of literature and traditional folk song, but also discuss the more modern narratives of the present day.
